Random Thoughts
So today is the first day off this season, and it was much needed. Playing a game everyday takes a toll on you, even if you only play in every 3rd game or so. I'm sure exactly what I want to do today, but i really want to see a movie, i suppose it doesn't matter which movie cause there are a lot of good movies out right now. That being said, i could just sit inside all day and relax and watch some bleach, fmab, deathnote, and listen to the new Incubus album (which is amazing so far). Either way today should be a nice relaxing day and i intend to take advantage of it. Tomorrow morning we go out to Staten Island to play the yankees Short season team. I'm pretty stoked cause i haven't ever been there and on thursday our game is at 11am so after the game we have plenty of time to explore. Lately i haven't been able to listen to anything other than Of Mice And Men and Woe, Is Me, which definitely doesn't bother me, but now that i have Incubus' new album i doubt i'll be listening to anything other than that for a while. Anyway that's about it.

First Start
So i got to the field today and i found out that tomorrow i'm getting my first pro ball start! i'm pretty pumped for it, and hopefully i do really well and i keep a starting role on the team. We won our second game in a row today which is a record for us. Hopefully this is the start of a good winning streak, because at 5-11 we really need one. I just gotta go out tomorrow and help get that 3rd win in a row. Thats all for now.

New Home
Well now i'm finally with a host family and they are pretty cool people. It should be a lot of fun. I'm staying with another player, and we live in the basement, but it's a pretty nice basement. The only thing that is kinda lame is that the basement is about 35 degrees, so i gotta have clothes on the whole time. My first outing out here didn't go nearly as well as i had hoped, but nothing ever really goes as planned. Hopefully i get to come in again soon, and i do as good as i know i can. The first few weeks i kinda missed my friends and Fresno, but the more i explore this place and get to know the guys on the team i don't really miss fresno anymore. I still miss some.

First Bullpen
So yesterday i got to throw my first bullpen out here and it went pretty well. The pitching coach was impressed and said i did a good job! so i'm pretty stoked on that. I think today i find out when i'm pitching and if i'm starting or if i'm coming out of the pen. I think it'll be out of the pen though, because we already have a full starting rotation, but that doesn't bother me. I am now in Ohio for a three game series, it should be fun! e people, but i think i can make do with texting until i come back sometime in september.
First Week of Minor Leagues
Well the trip out to Pittsburg to sign was pretty fun, minus the fact i had to get up at 430am to go to the airport. After flying to Arizona and then to Pittsburg, i was pretty exhausted, but i had to meet up with a rep from the team and then check out the Pirates and Orioles game that was going on. After a few innings i left because i was exhausted from my trip. I went o bed at 930pm which was the earliest I've ever been to bed before. I woke up at 4am and couldn't fall back asleep so i had to stay up until 7am which was when my physical was. So after my physical i got to watch more of another game while i waited for my physical to go through. After that i officially signed my papers and got shipped out to state college to meet the team i'll be playing on. After meeting a few of the guys, i got my gear and then went to my hotel to sleep. The next day we headed out Jamestown NY to play our first road series. It was a pretty uneventful trip, but our first game yesterday got rained out, and today isn't looking any better. More to come, time to go to the field.

Poytress & Robinson
www.fresnobee.com
Fresno State's baseball rebuilding project grew this week after Dusty Robinson and Josh Poytress decided as expected to pass on their senior seasons and instead sign professional contracts.
Josh and Dusty started their journey as Freshman Bulldog roommates. Its been a great friendship and a tie that even the parents share. They both even had a crazy freshman summer ball trip, lol. Dusty has fought through opposition and so has his buddy Josh. Today is no different as Josh waits for Dusty's arrival of his friend @ NY Penn League. Good luck to two fine young men!

A total of 44 Bulldogs have been drafted under Batesole's watch including, three first round picks.
"This is an exciting day for Fresno State baseball with 10 Bulldogs being taken in the 2011 MLB Draft," said Batesole. "We are especially happy for our seniors, who have given so much to our program, to get an opportunity to continue playing."

Gonzalez had the best ERA in the league at 1.79 giving up 21 earned runs in 105.1 innings pitched. He also led the WAC in strikeouts with 124. Weber was the first Bulldog taken in the 222nd round (664 overall pick) by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Weber is the third senior to get drafted in 2011. He hit .274 with six doubles, two triples and five home runs. The shortstop also recorded 33 RBIs and started all 56 games this season. Weber earned All-WAC honors both seasons in a Bulldog uniform.

How great is this picture?? Jordan's 1st at bat as a Dust Devil was a broken bat RBI! Woo Hoo! He just finished his 1st home series and has hit the ground running! I love how I have audio for all the games! Makes me feel like I'm there........well, almost! Josh Poytress leaves for NY Penn League
Hi my fellow Bulldog parents. I hope you are as excited about our blog as i am! This morning at 6:30 am Josh boarded his flight to begin his journey to becoming a Pittsburgh Pirate! We spent most of our day yesterday packing up his house and packing his travel bag. The brothers, Jordan, Jeremiah & Nicholas, along with Kelly & I, had dinner together at Casa Corona. Kelly kept us rolling with all his jokes, and the boys humored him by laughing anyways, lol. Later that night, Josh's beautiful sister Toridawn surprised him with her arrival after midnight. Everyone together....blessings for sure! As I am writing, Josh has let us know he has arrived at Phoenix for his connection. While grabbing something to eat, Josh ran into former teammate Jake Floethe, who is also heading to the NY Penn League. How cool is that?! Go Jake!
Josh is now boarding for the long leg of his trip...sleep well son...and have fun at the Pirates game tonight. Love, Mom
